Unknown School) Originally published February 2005

On January 14th [2005], schools around Minnesota closed due to cold weather. That same evening, residents and visitors in Northfield celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through the arts. With over 200 people packed into the assembly area at ARTech Charter School, the evening was anything but cold.

Artists sang, danced, recited, and played instruments in celebration of Dr. King’s life. Composer’s performed original works chosen or written by them specifically for this event.

Organizations that partipated in the celebration included, ARTech Charter School [Northfield School of Arts and Technology], Nerstrand Elementary Charter School, Northfield Arts Guild, St. Olaf College, and the Northfield Community Choir.
